To get products like Gasoline and Diesel out of Crude Oil the oil must be refined. Crude Oil is refined by boiling the oil. Boiling the oil causes vapors from the oil to rise up the distillation column, the heavy vapor stay low in the column to form Diesel and Motor Oil while the lighter vapors form Kerosene and Gasoline.
